My friend and I went to Montego Bay , Jamaica for MLK Day.

We took a day trip to Dunns River Falls and to Ocho Rios.

I didn’t walk up the Falls on this trip—maybe next time!

The jerked chicken and pork were as good as you have always heard.

I would like to wish everyone a happy and healthy New Year filled with exciting travel adventures!

This year I will turn 55. I have visited 47 countries. I believe a good 2012 travel goal for me would be to visit my 55th country during my 55th birthday year. That means I will need to visit 8 new countries this year. I have already visited a lot of the “easy to get to” countries so this will be quite a challenge! Stay tuned throughout the year and see how I am doing!

Meanwhile, here are a couple of pictures from recent trips. The first was taken at Guell Park in Barcelona.

The second was taken from the top of Paradise Point in St. Thomas. I think the frozen beverages kind of say it all…

Let the record show that my trip to Beijing was FABULOUS!

When it comes to my travel, I love three things: business class, budget friendly countries, and off the beaten path.

This trip was the total package and I’m going back before Thanksgiving. - sorry Mommy L.

There is soooo much that I could blog about from my vacation.....The Temple of Heaven, Forbidden City, Ming Tombs, The Summer Palace, Tiananmen Square, CHEAP shopping, daily spa treatments under $10, Peking duck dinners, more CHEAP shopping, Surviving a
rickshaw ride! I could go on but I’m sure you have an idea of what I did and how I got down in China .

Very rarely will I take guided tours but I felt it was necessary to see the Great Wall; I didn't want to waste my day crying because I ended up in the Gobi Desert! It simply can’t be explained in a blog, nor can pictures convey what it's actually like to experience the Great Wall. I’m still wrapping my mind around it. What does 240RMB for a guided tour of the Great Wall get you? The most memorable trip of a lifetime……

Easter in Ireland

Dublin is a great 3 day getaway from Atlanta! For cheap transportation from the airport to the city center, take the Aircoach bus for approx. 7 EUR. Look for the signs at the airport. Dublin is a wonderful “walking” city. Be sure to visit some of the great Irish Pubs in the Temple Bar area.

If you get a chance, visit Malahide Castle. Take the northbound DART to Malahide Station. The castle is within walking distance from the train station.

My niece had a destination wedding at the Iberostar Paraiso del Mar hotel in Riviera Maya. It is an all inclusive hotel, and the food was great. They did have several restaurants that you could make reservations at for your evening meal. It was a large resort, but they provided golf carts for transportation, or you could get your exercise by walking. The beach was also great, and there were plenty of chairs available for the sun bathers. They had beach volleyball and poolside activities if you wanted to participate. They had a gym, tennis courts, theater, disco, shopping center and a chapel. Parasailing and jet ski rentals were available for an additional fee. The staff was very friendly, and they made our stay very enjoyable. The best part was our family could all be in one location and enjoy the beautiful location and her special day together!

It's been a while since anyone submitted any travel stories, so I'll take this opportunity to share some of a family member's big adventure "Down Under". My nephew, Chris Kittredge is currently touring with the popular alternative hip-hop band, "Arrested Development" in Australia and took some time out to share these awesome photos from Sydney and various other stops along the way. Chris began drumming with his church band in his teen years and loved it so much he decided to study music in college to pursue a career in music full time. In recent weeks, a guitarist for the band saw some of Chris's video clips online and called him up for an audition to accompany the band on their upcoming tour. And as they say, "the rest is history!"

Chris and the band left Atlanta on Christmas Day to begin their tour in Queensland, Australia - arriving just as the flood waters were beginning to surround the area. Thankfully, the band made it safely to their first gig and performed to a lively crowd in spite of the rains and continued on to their next stop under clearer skies. Some recent stops have included Coolangatta, Melbourne, Vic, Perth, and here are some photos from Sydney. After seeing images of this beautiful place, I will definitely be making plans to visit Australia myself in the near future! Wish I were there now cheering on Chris... I guess music is just in my blood... Actually, it runs pretty deep in this family.

Hello, my name is Evelyn Brown Wilder, and I am an employee of Delta Global Staffing. Since joining DGS, I have been enjoying my flight privileges to the utmost!! My husband and I spent 2 weeks in Kona, Hawaii in June, and some co-workers and I spent 5 days this month (Oct) in Maui, Hawaii. This was my third trip to Maui so you see that I LOVE Maui, right? :-) I think I need a dual residency between Georgia and Hawaii :-)

These are just a few of many pictures that I have taken since being hired at DGS, and I thank God everyday for this opportunity. This job is God sent, and please believe I take it as just that. I love what I'm doing at DGS working in the Sky Club....

Cheryl's Weekend of Family Fun in Miami

My daughter and grandkids had never been to South Florida, so off we went to visit “Uncle Brian” over Labor Day week-end. The kids had not flown since they were babies, and my daughter had not been on a plane for many years. Once we worked through what could and could not be taken on the plane (LOL) we were off for a full week-end of fun.

First stop Saturday morning was the Miami Zoo. We did not let 90+ temps and high humidity stop us as we spent hours and hours walking and riding around this beautiful zoo. It is amazing what they have done to restore the zoo after being destroyed by Hurricane Andrew in 1992.

To cool off after the zoo we headed to the beach for a quick swim. Love the quiet natural beaches in the area, no South Beach for us.

Sunday morning we are off to Key Biscayne for a day on the water. Snorkeling the reef was amazing, watching the kids spot fish and even a shark, priceless. What a relaxing way to enjoy the beauty of the Keys.

Monday morning was filled with site seeing. The rest of the time we ate. What an international city with many choices! Cuban was the most requested and devoured cuisine. Many family memories were made.

Ten years ago today I started a wonderful journey.... You know that humbling moment when you're looking down at a sea of clouds? It blows my mind every single time. JoAnn Visits Venice & Paris

Be sure to put Venice at the top of your “must visit” list! This is the type of place you will want to return to again and again. It really is as beautiful as the pictures!

My guidebook said the first thing you should do in Venice is “get lost”. I thought that was a strange suggestion, but it was excellent advice. Venice is not that big, and there are no cars or other vehicles of any kind, so you can walk around freely. Around every corner is a surprise such as a beautiful little square or another view of the canals and gondolas. We also visited an island called Burano. The buildings there are all brightly colored, and it has canals and gondolas too. It was also a little cheaper than Venice.

Ah, PARIS!

Yes, you can go to Paris, France for the weekend! Leave Friday after work. Arrive early morning on Saturday. Go like crazy all day. Spend the night, and leave on Sunday.

For a quick trip like this, you definitely need a plan. I suggest picking two things you want to see and concentrate your time and energy on them. Anything else you see or do beyond that is just a bonus.

Since my friend and I had been to Paris before, this time we chose one “unusual” thing to do and one “normal” thing to do. I had just gotten my first iPod and I wanted to visit Jim Morrison’s grave at Pere Lachaise Cemetery and listen to him sing “The End”. Doors fans will understand! Actually, the cemetery is quite beautiful, and it was a gorgeous sunny day. We also visited Museum D’Orsay where you can view countless art masterpieces. We sat outside at a little café where we had supper and watched the people go by. What a great weekend!

Puerto Rico with our Pablo and Family

It had been a long time since I last visited “La Isla Del Encanto”, 10 years to be exact. The main purpose of this trip was to expose my better half to the beautiful island and to introduce my 5-month-old son to some of my family.

The weather was perfect, about 84 degrees, although they forecasted rain for the time that we were there.

We arrived in San Juan on Thursday afternoon around 1p.m. We caught the shuttle to AVIS to rent a vehicle. From there, we drove to the hotel. After checking into the San Juan Beach Hotel, we had a chance to relax for a bit before heading out to see all the sites San Juan had to offer.

First, we drove to “Isla Verde” to get a bite to eat and shop on the strip. Later that night, we drove by my grandparents’ house to say “Hola”. Our visit was an absolute surprise to them as they were not expecting us. We had a great time catching up with the family after such a long absence.

The next morning we started our day in “Viejo San Juan”. They had many events going on for Good Friday. We walked most of the time which later became exhausting, especially pushing the heavy stroller up those hills! There were a lot of events for tourists, including food and music. Most of the day was spent downtown followed by a nice dip at the beach before sundown. The water was warm, but the waves were high so we stayed close to shore.

Our last day in Puerto Rico was spent by visiting “El Morro”, a historical landmark in San Juan. We took many pictures and read up on the history that stretches over 400 years ago. It was a nice tour, but I was freaked by the large iguanas running around the site!

Later on that evening we got together with some cousins to celebrate a birthday at the “Old Harbor Brewery” in San Juan, where we ate and sipped a few drinks!!!

Sunday morning we flew back to Atlanta and relaxed. It was a really nice trip and we plan on returning sometime this Summer!!!

Our Gail went to the Canary Islands!

I have wanted to travel to the Canary Islands since the 80’s when a British/Irish friend told me about them. The airfare was always too costly, but I got my chance now with our wonderful flight benefits. We were able to spend some time on two islands since the ferries are so fast and affordable. We rented a little car and were able to see both islands from top to bottom: Lanzarote and Fuerteventura.

Being only 17 miles from the African coast, the terrain was very dessert-like and volcanic (looked like the moon), but the culture was very Latin. We danced the Flamenco and Tango, and there were entertainers from Cuba also. We had a Moroccan chef trained in Paris, so you can only imagine the combination of flavors! Delish!

It was 85 degrees with a constant breeze everyday. Lovely weather for a perfect vacation. The beaches were breathtaking!

I hope to return to see the other two islands very soon.

Grand Canyon with DJ, Jim and Lee!

Jim and I took his sister to the Grand Canyon for a combined birthday celebration, mine and hers! We flew into PHX and met Charles Barkley at the airport!

We rented a car and drove to Sedona which was absolutely beautiful!! We did some shopping and enjoyed the views. When we left PHX it was 70 degrees, but when we got to Flagstaff it was in the 30s!! We all three bunked together like little kids, it was fun!

Saturday, we went to the Grand Canyon, and the 1st time you see it is absolutely breathtaking; you can't even believe it is real. I was wanting to climb over the rails and walk out to the edge, but Jim and Lee were scared to death!! I think you can see how scared she was in some of the pictures.......................i was loving it.

It was freezing, windy, and the fog started rolling in. We were supposed to go on a helicopter ride, but the fog made that impossible.

It started snowing and it was scary driving through the mountains back to Flagstaff. We woke up on Sunday to a Winter wonderland of about 8 inches of snow!!! Beautiful!

We drove back to Phoenix, and it was 65 degrees. Stayed in a boutique hotel in old historic Scottsdale, Arizona, and ate sushi. Fun time was had by all!!!!!

We took a day tour to the Mayan ruins of Chichen-Itza.

Cancun is a close and fun place to visit and being able to visit Mayan ruins from there is an added bonus.

DGS is one of the best places to work. I started as a baggage handler in 2005 and transitioned to administrative assistant to General Manager Jack Wingo.

One of my most pleasurable moments was implementing the PAXTrack series, a unique dispatching system created to improve an airline’s ability to serve passengers needing special assistance. Other pleasures are working with a dynamic team at Hartsfield-Atlanta Jackson International Airport and traveling around the globe.

“To live is to travel”: my favorite motto. My journeys include the Netherlands, Japan, Dominican Republic, Bermuda, Senegal, and Panama. I have engaged in native customs/religions/occupations, eaten exotic foods, sipped magical potions, and delved into nightlife scenes. Unplanned. Educational. Downright entertaining.

Stay tuned for my uplifting travel stories. I have included a photograph of me and Senegalese students in Dakar.

Happy Holidays! Feliz Navidad! Happy Kwanzaa! Happy Hanukkah! And Merry Christmas!

A trip to New York City during the most wonderful time of the year is the perfect way to get into the holiday spirit. Add in an overnight stay at the W Hotel (between Lexington and Park Avenue), and the experience of the Miracle on 34th Street via Santa Land at Macy’s and it's definitely the most wonderful time of the year!

Not to mention the beautiful lights of the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center, browsing the amazing holiday window displays at Lord & Taylor, Fendi and, of course, Louis Vuitton are always something to celebrate!

Last but not least was the ultimate NYC holiday experience- The Radio City Christmas Spectacular. Add a record breaking snow storm and sixteen hours of "non-reving"…… Merry Christmas to everyone!

The holiday is right around the corner and it’s almost time to bring in the New Year. To the DGS Family-Thank you for your business and support in 2009 and I wish you happiness & prosperity in the year ahead.

On my last trip to Hawaii, my family and I had a ball as usual.

We visited the island of Oahu, where there are a lot of things to do within the city like touring Pearl Harbor, the free ride out to the Harbor is breath taking.

We also visited the Polynesian Cultural Center, where you get to visit seven different villages, but most of all I enjoyed the Luau, where you eat as much as you want and enjoy a great show! I just enjoy working for DGS. This is my 11th year with the company, and my family and I have traveled to Hawaii each year. Sometimes twice a year.

Quick Trip to Mumbai

When my friend and I learned that Delta was going to discontinue their nonstop service from Atlanta to Mumbai, we decided to make a “quick trip” to Mumbai.

India, for first time visitors, can be an assault on the senses—noisy, frantic, vibrant and chaotic. Overwhelming at first, this country of a billion people can gradually unfold many delights whether it is in the incredible friendliness of the people, the traditions, the interesting foods or the bustle and aromas of the bazaars.

We took a day tour to see the main sights in Mumbai. I loved the Gateway of India which is Mumbai’s most famous landmark. It was the first sight to greet travelers to India during the heyday of the British. The Taj Mahal Hotel stands near the Gateway of India. You may remember reading about the horrible terrorist attacks that took place there almost a year ago.

If you go to Mumbai, don’t miss taking the hour ferry ride to Elephanta Island. There are caves on the island that contain Indian carvings that date from the 6^th century AD. Beware: there are 125 steps (mostly uphill) to the main temple. For 300 rupees (about $6), four men will carry you to the top on a chair held by poles. After a few minutes of climbing in the heat, I broke down and paid the 300 rupees. It was money well spent—I felt like a queen being carried on her throne!

Tip: Traffic in Mumbai is absolutely terrible. Give yourself plenty of time to get to your destination. Take taxis everywhere--they are very cheap.

Shopping: To me, the BEST EVER in the world so far! (Shanghai is my second favorite!)

Hello blogger community! I'm Jeremy Worthams, IT Recruiter for DGS. I haven't worked here long, but so far it's been great and filled with opportunity and wonderful experiences.

I was recently given the chance to be in an upcoming movie called “Life as We Know It” starring Katherine Heigl (Grey's Anatomy) and Josh Duhamel (Fergie's husband).

My role in the film was an Army soldier waiting in line to purchase an airline ticket(on Delta Air Lines, of course)! It was a great and exciting day...a 14 hour day, but still a great time!

The whole experience of actually going through wardrobe, hair, make-up, and seeing movie stars was unbelievable. I would love to go into detail about the movie and my starring debut, but unfortunately the production will not allow it. But you will be able to see the movie in early 2010!

With that being said, I would not have been able to experience this unless I worked for Delta Global Staffing! The casting company chose DGS and Delta employees to have a small look into the Hollywood experience. They let us be a part of their world and they got to experience the great city of Atlanta and the hospitality from Delta Air Lines!

JoAnn Takes Australia!

I spent last week in Sydney, Australia. What a beautiful city! There are a lot of things to do within the city like touring the Opera House, visiting the Taronga Zoo, Chinatown, Darling Harbor, etc. The adventurous can climb to the top of the Harbor Bridge (too expensive and too scary for me!).

We also took a day trip to the Blue Mountains. This is a scenic area about one hour from Sydney that has several attractions like bushwalks, scenic cable car ride, gardens, caves, zig zag railway, shops, nice restaurants and quaint towns.

Part of our Blue Mountains tour included a trip to Featherdale Wildlife Preserve. This is THE place to pet the kangaroos, wallabies, koalas and see other animals that you didn’t even know existed.

On 9/23, Sydney experienced a major dust storm (very unusual). We awoke to a strange yellow sky and turned on the news to hear that the airport and the ferries were closed. It was quite a surreal experience! Luckily, it cleared up later in the day.

My favorite thing from this whole trip was the time spent at Featherdale Wildlife Preserve petting the animals. Do not miss this place if you go to Sydney!

My name is Tiffney and I’m a Recruiter with Delta Global Staffing. I’ve been with the company for nine years and have traveled over 500K miles. Working for the company has allowed me to do what I love both personally and professionally (which is recruit & travel). I truly have the best of both worlds! Maybe I could do a "colabo" with Jay-Z! LOL

I’ve had the opportunity to travel all over the globe…..from Shreveport to Senegal, Dallas to Dubai, and Jackson to Johannesburg!

I also enjoy traveling off the beaten path. After a demanding week of work I’ve scooted off to Paris, that’s Paris, Tennessee—“The World’s Largest Fish Fry”, Canal Street—“Best Kept Secret in New York” and Buenos Aries—to dance (okay, I mostly watched) the night away at Senor Tango.

A Travelers Dreams Come True

Hi! My name is JoAnn and I have worked for DGS in Atlanta, GA for the past 7 ½ years. I have always loved to travel. When I started working for DGS, it was a dream come true for me to be able to fly all over the world.

I have traveled to wonderful and exciting destinations such as Dubai, Cairo, Shanghai, Seoul, Paris, Bucharest, Rome, Athens and Buenos Aires, just to name a few.

Another fun thing to do is take day trips. I have taken great day trips to Las Vegas, San Diego, New York, Chicago, New Orleans, Nassau and all over Florida. Day trips are an inexpensive way to enjoy your flight privileges.

One of my first day trips was to St. Louis, MO. We took public transportation to the Gateway Arch and took the elevator to the top of the Arch. It was quite exciting—and a little scary—being at the top of the Arch! We had lunch at the Hard Rock Café in Union Station and then flew home. That night I couldn’t believe that I had been at the top of the St. Louis Arch just a few short hours ago.

One of my favorite day trips is to go to New York City around Christmas time. There are Christmas decorations everywhere and festivity is in the air. I love to go to Rockefeller Center and see the Christmas tree and watch the ice skaters. And, of course, nothing beats the shopping on Canal St.!
